Forky Day

Y1S3 Project 1: Retro. Create a sculpture out of found objects.

No glue. No welding. No soldering. Preferably no nuts and bolts. Oh, and metal is preferred.

Drove half my coursemates mad...and I'm frankly disappointed at how many people copied my idea outright. I get it if you got inspired to use forks but...to compose your entire sculpture out of forks, like me? And to copy directly from the Internet?

Come on, I know all of you can do better than that.

Letting Go

Long time no see, and no sadly or otherwise I'm not dead yet, and I've brought along an eyesore that should be caustic to your eyes, so be forewarned.

A piece half-inspired by what a friend said in a message. I guess I can also call it a self-reminder of sorts.

Two to three hours while FB-ing, sms-ing and what-have-you. Mechanical pencil and normal sketchbook paper. Ah,and a round, formerly triangular eraser, bless its poor soul for having to put up with every single one of my noticed mistakes.

Wow, it's been a long time since I last posted, hasn't it? I've started degree now, and I must say, it really is quite different from foundation, which by itself is already staggeringly different from secondary and primary school life...ah well. Go with the flow (and hope one doesn't drown), eh?

Prepare for a flood of pics! Mostly artwork done in situ during our outdoor sketching sessions. Clearly I've much to work on. Argh. Meanwhile, I hope your eyes will survive the following uploads...enter if you dare *insert evil cackle*

Crybaby

Here's this week's practical, a Plaster of Paris baby's head.

This much was done in class. A bit more unshaded, the rest smudged slightly with my fingers to see the depth of the tone.


Came back and finished it!


It still doesn't look as nice as I want it to be...but try as I might, I just CAN'T get the tone just right! Sheesh! But in anycase the fixative has been applied, so no use crying over spilt milk now.

Assignment 2's coming soon...please, please give me enough time to sleep. Sigh.

Witching Hour

About...maybe 40-45 minutes' drawing during tutorial classes (yes I am a bad girl haha). Random character, but maybe I'll adopt her for future drawings just to practice repetition.

It was drawn on the back of a tutorial, hence the lines of words. I couldn't clean it up properly so...yeah. *pretends that the fading grays are cool effects*

For this practical we had to observe the human anatomy of both males and females. Reference for female was lousy, I hope I did okay regardless....

Longing

Tried to emulate an artwork I saw whilst browsing deviantart. I can't say I succeeded, but the experience was worthwhile and very fun.

. Animals have emotions too .






Only adjusted Levels in Photoshop for the completed version; the colours are natural reflections.

I think I might do this again. Tis a nice way of doing things.

Closing Curtains

Yeahh so this is the final assignment I was talking about. A2 smooth paper, colour pencils. Phew. Almost killed me with its complexity - and up to this day my friends and I still can't stop evaluating buildings we see for their complexity and (im)possibility to recreate on paper. Lol.

One photo per day, accruing to a total of 7 (yes, I worked on it for a week. With almost no sleep for 3 days and none at all for the last. Woe is me!).

Take Two

My second take on A3 rough paper charcoal drawing of leaves and stones. As aforementioned, I redid it due to some complications with the first one that shaved off a lot of my marks - too much for me to close an eye. So here it is:

I hope I improved but...is that too much to ask for? Considering I did this in three hours - till 4am. Waa.

Stairway to...Insomnia?

This time I present to you the second out of three assignments I have this trimester: a charcoal drawing on A2 rough-tooth paper.

It cost me a fair few days of precious sleep - and the entirety of the night preceding the deadline - and in the end it didn't even turn out like how I wanted it to be. So I'm fairly disappointed, yes. But what can I do? Deadlines are deadlines. Sigh.

Bottle Ball

Whew. Been drowning in assignments and practicals lately! For this practical we had to draw and colour glass bottles, A3 size - with colour pencils. Gosh. Truly glass reflects more than its own colour...perhaps too much for its own good?

A pencil drawing requested by a friend for her birthday. I don't really know who this is, just picked him cuz he appeared quite often in her picture archives. I hope he's recognisable >.<

Pastel Power

Heeey, for something that looks like crayon (which I was abysmal at when I was young), it ain't half bad. I actually had some fun with it!

This is one part of two practicals we have - the last two for this semester, coupled with our first assignment. Talk about ending it with a bang!

I'll upload pictures of the last practical sometime later. Many WIPs for that one because it took me so darn long to finish....

Game of Light and Dark

Now that we're being bombarded by assignments, I finally have something to upload besides just brushing away dust from my writing.

I learned a lot from this piece, and for a drawing without blending (OMG!) it was actually pretty fun! I wouldn't mind doing it again...sans the time limit and worry about scores, of course.

Our last two practicals for this semester will be handed in later this week, so stay tuned for more (scarring) pieces soon.
